Set amidst tall cedars, Chonor Hosue is peacefully removed from the hustle and bustle of the town, and yet within walking distance of everything the Mcleod town has to offer. Chonor House is a branch of Norbulingka Institute, designed and built by British architect David Porter in a style intended to blend in with the natural environment of the hills overlooking the Kangra valley. Each of our rooms are beautifully decorated according to unique Tibetan themes featuring regions of Tibet, flora and fauna of the land of snow, Tibet.

HUMMINGBIRD RESTAURANT

Chonor’s Hummingbird Restaurant serves fine international and Tibetan cuisine made with freshest ingredients available locally. Our in-house bakery makes fresh breads, cakes and cookies every day. Our restaurant offers seating both indoors as well as outdoors, you can choose to dine outside taking advantage of the gorgeous views and landscaped gardens, or enjoy the warmth of indoor dining area with the beautiful murals of landscapes of Tibet.

EXPERIENCES

Because of where Chonor House is located, it offers a perfect blend to experience the calm and serenity presented by early morning chants and sounds of the Tibetan horn, a long trumpet, from the main temple, while enjoying the town market during the day. While you can enjoy a relaxing time within the premises of the hotel, we have curated a range of experiences to enrich your stay with us – book an art workshop, take a tour of the Norbulingka Institute and immerse yourself in the culture. Gorgeous Tibetan style guesthouse in the heart of McLeodganj "The property is beautifully appointed with each room having a story and a different style of interiors. The warmth and hospitality of the property starts from the check-in itself, and the staff are so warm and friendly, and helpful. Little touches like hot water bottles in the bed each evening, add a wonderful touch of hospitality. The property is well-located and really close to most of the sights and sounds of McLeodganj. The restaurant is alright, serving indian, international and some Tibetan fare. The views are unique, ranging from the monastery nearby to the distant snow capped peaks of the Dhauladhar range. All in all, I would def recommend it, and look forward to visiting again soon.

Invited by friends to a final meal, last evening I was in Dharamsala. The best ever! "This hotel and restaurant represent great Tibetan hospitality and culture and cuisine. Beautifully decorated Tibetan restauant, professional service, excellent menu. I enjoyed the very best meal during my 10 days in Dharamsala and my friends were delighted. They have a shop I would have loved to visit, Tibetan clothing etc, but it was closed when we finished dinner. Maybe next time....

Chonor house at mcleodgunj is a visitor's delight. It is a treat for the tired souls.The hospitality and services which are given here are beyond expectations. The ladies staff exudes such warmth and love. They make u feel at home. The house keeping staff clean the rooms very meticulously whether it is bringing hot water to the rooms or any other request placed they attend to it instantly. Another plus point of this hotel is it is just a stone's throw from the market place and Dalai Lama temple. The skyline which is yet to be launched is also very close. Overall a good place to stay

Warmth, views, Wi-Fi and great food!! "Chonor house McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala is the perfect place to stay if you want to fall in love with the beauty of nature and the taste of delicious food. I visited with my 10 year old son. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot right next to the Cora walk, and from the restaurant balcony you can see the residence of HH Dalai Lama. The traditional dumplings called moms are a must-try in the onsite restaurant, and are sure to enjoy a cup of hot tea while you take in the incredible views. The rooms are decorated with handmade Tibetan furniture, spacious and clean rooms!"
