About Norling House

Set in the pristine, private grounds of the Norbulingka Institute, Norling House exudes a rich artistic ambiance. It is surrounded by the lush gardens and flowing streams of the Norbulingka grounds. During the day, the campus is abuzz with art and creation while one can enjoy the tranquility of nature around in the mornings and evenings. Early morning circumambulation of the Norbulingka temple is a very special experience. The rooms in the hotel are themed according to a different animal from Tibetan mythology and is a showcase of the work of Norbulingka artists, all the furniture and original paintings were lovingly handcrafted and painted in-house.

Norling’s Hummingbird Restaurant is two minutes’ walk from the hotel where our vegetarian menu and daily specials showcase the best local and seasonal produce. You can also enjoy your meal on the hotel balcony with the Dhauladhar mountain view or in the privacy of your room.

Norling House is located in Sidhpur, a suburb of Dharamsala, about 30 minutes from McLeod Ganj. You can reach here either via plane, train or by bus. 

• The nearest airport is located at Gaggal, about 25 minutes from us. Daily flights service from Delhi to Dharamsala and return operate from this airport. Alternatively, you can fly to Jammu or Amritsar, both located around 4 hours from Dharamsala. 
• The nearest train station is in Pathankot, located about 2 hours from Dharamsala. Be forewarned however, that booking trains in India can be very complicated as it must be done well in advance and in person. Your best option for train bookings is through a travel agent.
• The most affordable way to reach us would be by bus. Several overnight buses run to and from Delhi daily. You can book with a travel agent or online. The journey lasts about 12 hours.
